 ecture connects the arithmetic of elliptic curves over number fields to th
 eir L-functions. The conjecture includes a formula for the leading term of
  the Taylor series of the L-function at s=1 in terms of arithmetic data as
 sociated to the elliptic curve. In this talk we will discuss the possible 
 existence of such a formula for L-functions of elliptic curves twisted by 
 Artin representations. After outlining some expected properties of these L
 -functions\, we will present arithmetic applications and some explicit exa
 mples. This is joint work with Vladimir Dokchitser and Robert Evans.\n
