DESCRIPTION:Title: Relative decomposition by intervals in the 2d grid\nby Benjamin Blan
chette (Université de Sherbrooke) as part of Sherbrooke algebra seminar\n
\n\nAbstract\nWe expose a new invariant for representations of the equiori
ented grid of dimension 2\, introduced by Asashiba\, Escolar\, Nakashima a
nd Yoshiwaki in 2019.\nIt is a rich but incomplete invariant that is compu
table in finite time\, as opposed to regular decomposition in indecomposab
les\, which is complete but not effectively computable as the bound quiver
is of wild type.\nFor the preliminary talk introducing the concepts used\

DESCRIPTION:Title: Cluster Theories and Continuous Mutation\nby Job Rock (Brandeis Univ
ersity) as part of Sherbrooke algebra seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nCluster struc
tures and mutation are well-known and well-studied among representation th
eorists. However\, there are some limitations with these notions. In this
virtual talk we will introduce cluster theories and continuous mutation\,
which generalize cluster structures and mutation. We provide some applicat
ions of continuous mutation to type A cluster theories. (Joint work with K

art of Sherbrooke algebra seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nOpper Plamondon and Schro
ll described a geometric model for the derived category of gentle algebras
. In this talk I will explain how to use this model to get one for the der
ived category of skew-gentle algebras. The main tool is the use of the ske
w-group algebra structure of the skew-gentle algebras. This is a collabora

abi-Yau inclinées\nby Ralf Schiffler (University of Connecticut) as p

olito Treffinger (University of Leicester) as part of Sherbrooke algebra s

mondon (Université de Paris Sud XI) as part of Sherbrooke algebra seminar

DESCRIPTION:Title: Localizations of exact and one-sided exact categories.\nby Adam-Chri
stiaan van Roosmalen (Hasselt University\, Belgium) as part of Sherbrooke
algebra seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nQuotients of abelian and triangulated categ
ories are ubiquitous in geometry\, representation theory\, and K-theory.
In recent research\, we consider quotients of exact categories by percolat
ing subcategories. This approach extends earlier localization theories fo
r exact categories by Cardenas and Schlichting\, allowing new examples.\n\
nWe obtain the quotient of an exact category E by a percolating subcategor
y A in two steps. In the first step\, we localize the exact category E at
a class of morphisms S_A. In general\, this localization need not be an
exact category\, but merely one-sided exact. In the second step\, one can
obtain the quotient E/A as the exact hull of the localization. Furthermo
re\, the quotient functor E --> E/A induces a Verdier localization on the
level of the bounded derived categories.\n\nIn this talk\, I will discuss
this quotient construction and briefly discuss some applications and examp
les.\n\n(Based on joint work with Ruben Henrard.)\n

DESCRIPTION:Title: Is functional analysis a special case of tilting theory?\nby Sven-A
ke Wegner (Teesside University\, UK) as part of Sherbrooke algebra seminar
\n\n\nAbstract\nThe objects of functional analysis together with the corre
sponding morphisms don't form abelian categories. Classical examples\, e.g
.\, the category of Banach spaces\, satisfy almost all axioms of an abelia
n category but the canonical morphism between the cokernel of the kernel a
nd the kernel of the cokernel of a given map fails in general to be an iso
morphism. In 2003\, Bondal and van den Bergh showed that there is a corre
spondence between (co-)tilting torsion pairs and so-called quasiabelian ca
tegories. Indeed\, every quasiabelian category\, in particular the categor
y of Banach spaces\, is derived equivalent to the (abelian) heart of the c
anonical t-structure on its derived category. In this talk we discuss exam
ples of categories appearing in functional analysis that are not quasiabel
ian but which carry a natural exact structure. The derived category is thu
s defined. We are interested in an extension of the aforementioned equival
ence as this could be a step towards a successful categorification of cert
ain analytic problems.\n
