DESCRIPTION:Title: The rates of growth in a hyperbolic group\nby Koji Fuji
wara (Kyoto) as part of Geometric group theory in East Asia\n\n\nAbstract\
nWe study the countable set of rates of growth of a hyperbolic group with
respect to all its finite generating sets. We prove that the set is well-o
rdered\, in particular\, the infimum is achieved. We use techniques from l
imit groups. This is a joint work with Zlil Sela.\n

DESCRIPTION:Title: Some problems in low-dimensional topology with dynamic
nature\nby Hyungryul Baik (KAIST) as part of Geometric group theory in Eas
t Asia\n\n\nAbstract\nWe will discuss how the translation lengths of pseud
o-Anosov elements of the mapping class groups on either Teichmuller space
or curve graph can help understanding subgroups of the mapping class group
s. We will keep the talk as informal as possible\, and try to discuss some
open problems in this direction. The results which will be mentioned in t
he talk are based on joint works with various subgroups of the following g
roup of people {Eiko Kin\, Ahmad Rafiqi\,\nHyunshik Shin\, Chenxi Wu}.\n
