DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/jomarec/1/">
On highly anisotropic big bang singularities</a>\nby Hans Ringström (KTH
Stockholm) as part of JoMaReC - Joint Online Mathematical Relativity Collo
quium\n\n\nAbstract\nIn cosmology\, the universe is typically modelled by
spatially homogeneous and isotropic solutions to Einstein’s equations. H
owever\, for large classes of matter models\, such solutions are unstable
in the direction of the singularity. For this reason\, it is of interest t
o study the anisotropic setting. \n\nThe purpose of the talk is to describ
e a framework for studying highly anisotropic singularities. In particular
\, for analysing the asymptotics of solutions to linear systems of wave eq
uations on the corresponding backgrounds and deducing information concerni
ng the geometry.\n\nThe talk will begin with an overview of existing resul
ts. This will serve as a background and motivation for the problem conside
red\, but also as a justification for the assumptions defining the framewo
rk we develop. Following this overview\, the talk will conclude with a rou
 gh description of the results.\n
