DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/ZAG/212/">Pe
riod integrals of algebraic varieties</a>\nby Benjamin Bakker (University
of Illinois at Chicago) as part of ZAG (Zoom Algebraic Geometry) seminar\n
\n\nAbstract\nPeriod integrals on complex algebraic varieties are the inte
grals of algebraic differential forms along topological cycles. They are
at the heart of Hodge theory. In this talk I will survey some recent resu
lts on the behavior of the functions obtained by taking period integrals i
n algebraic families\, including their transcendence\, their relation to t
he derivatives of the associated period map\, and some geometric applicati
ons. This is joint work with J. Pila and J. Tsimerman.\n
