Making High-Precision Gravitational Waves to Explore the Dark Universe</a>
\nby Alessandra Buonanno (MPIGP Potsdam) as part of XXVI IFT Christmas Wor
kshop\n\n\nAbstract\nThe solution of the two-body problem in General Relat
ivity has been crucial in observing gravitational waves from binary system
s composed of black holes and neutron stars\, and inferring their astrophy
sical\, cosmological and gravitational properties. I will review the theor
etical groundwork that has enabled these observations\, and discuss recent
theoretical advances aimed at predicting highly accurate waveform models
for future detectors on the ground and in space. Finally\, I will highligh
t some interesting observational findings obtained recently by the LIGO an
 d Virgo detectors.\n
