 \nAbstract\nAn alternative method is developed for extracting the von Neum
 ann entropy from the Renyi entropies without having to rely on the replica
  trick and analytic continuation from integers. Instead a generating funct
 ion for the Renyi entropies in an auxiliary complex variable z is analytic
 ally continued in z. Simple analytical and numerical calculations are give
