">Towards Microscopic Models of Big Bang Cosmology</a>\nby Mark Van Raamsd
onk (UBC) as part of Theoretical Physics Seminars (Kentucky)\n\n\nAbstract
\nIn this talk\, we review an approach to describing cosmological\nphysics
using ordinary AdS/CFT\, where the cosmological physics is the\neffective
description of an end-of-the-world brane which cuts off the\nsecond asymp
totic region of a two-sided black hole. The worldvolume\ngeometry of the b
rane is an FRW big-bang/big-crunch spacetime. In\nfavorable circumstances\
, the brane acts as a Randall-Sundrum Planck\nbrane so that gravity locali
zes. We describe a microscopic construction\nfor such an end-of-the-world
brane with localized gravity in AdS/CFT\,\nstarting from N=4 SYM theory. W
e suggest specific microscopic states of\nN=4 SYM theory that may encode t
 he physics in a four-dimensional\ncosmological spacetime.\n
