DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/UEAPS/71/">F
ree Shelves: Connecting Representations of Braid Groups and Forcing over M
odels with Reinhardt Embeddings</a>\nby Eric Nichols (UEA) as part of ANTL
R seminar\n\nLecture held in SCI 3.05.\n\nAbstract\nSet Theory often seems
very disconnected from other pure math topics like Algebra and Representa
tion Theory. However\, if we look closer we can often find deep connection
s between these fields. In this talk we explore the connection between I3
embeddings\, representations of Braid Groups\, and set theoretic forcing b
y searching for examples of a free Shelf (or Left Distributive Magma). Hig
hlighting how shelves arise out of I3 embeddings and out of algebra\, show
ing that I3 embeddings provide examples of free shelves\, and the necessit
y of these free shelves for forcing over models with Reinhardt embeddings.
\n\nThis talk will not go into formal detail on the involved set theory\,
instead focusing on pictorial motivations and general concepts. As a resul
t this talk should be accessible to all!\n
