DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/SymSem/20/">
Subsystem symmetry protected phases and anomalies in higher-form gauge the
ories</a>\nby Fiona Burnell (Minnesota) as part of Symmetry Seminar\n\n\nA
bstract\nRecent interest in systems with excitations that have sub-dimensi
onal mobility and conserved higher-multipole moments has motivated an inve
stigation of models with so-called subsystem symmetry\, in which conservat
ion laws apply not to the system as a whole\, but rather to sub manifolds
within the system\, such as families of lattice planes. I will discuss ana
logs of symmetry protection in these phases\, and its relation to anomalie
s in the corresponding field theoretical description\, which involves tens
 or gauge fields.\n
