 Abstract\nZ-hat\, also known as the homological block\, is an invariant of
  3-manifolds valued in BPS q-series introduced by Gukov\, Putrov and Vafa 
 in their study of 3d N=2 theory T[M3]. In this talk\, I will give a gentle
  introduction to Z-hat\, highlighting some recent developments including t
 he use of R-matrix for Verma modules\, generalization to higher rank\, the
  large N-limit and interpretation as open topological string partition fun
 ctions.\n
