 ost celebrated problems in Hamiltonian dynamics is the existence of period
 ic orbits on a prescribed energy level. In this talk\, we focus on the set
 ting of magnetic dynamics. After providing an introduction to the subject\
 , we present a variational approach to the study of periodic magnetic traj
 ectories and discuss recent results concerning both the existence and the 
 localization of low-energy periodic magnetic orbits. This work is part of 
 a joint project with Leonardo Macarini and Gabriele Benedetti.\n
