Finite descent obstruction on curves and modularity</a>\nby Mohit Hulse as
part of STAGE\n\nLecture held in Room 2-139 in the MIT Simons Building.\n
\nAbstract\nWe review some facts about modular curves and Galois represent
ations. Then\, following Helm and Voloch\, we show that the only obstructi
on to the existence of integral points on (integral models of twists of) m
odular curves is that of finite étale descent. This is proved using an ex
istence theorem for elliptic curves over $\\mathbb{Q}$ with some prescribe
 d local Galois data.\n\nReference: Helm\, Voloch\, <a href="https://web.ma

 ion on curves and modularity</a>.\n
