 ed CFT. I will present recently developed non-perturbative approaches to d
 efect observables in the SYM\, including supersymmetric localization of de
 fect networks\, and bootstrap of integrable boundary states. I will also d
 iscuss applications of these methods to specific defect observables and 
 comparisons with standard computations in IIB string theory on AdS_5 x S^5
