DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/OBAGS/95/">A
n extension of the Gudkov--Rokhlin congruence to singular curves</a>\nby A
lexander Degtyarev (Bilkent) as part of ODTU-Bilkent Algebraic Geometry Se
minars\n\n\nAbstract\nJoint work in progress w/ Ilia Itenberg.\n\nUpon com
pleting the deformation classification of simple real plane sextic curves
with smooth real part\, we observed certain distinctive lacunas in our lis
t of topological types. These lacunas are very similar to those in the smo
oth case\, which originally led to the discovery of the Gudkov--Rokhlin co
ngruence. However\, ours depend on the set of singularities and\, therefor
 e\, need a new dedicated congruence\; we suggest one.\n\n A remarkable fac
t supported by our classification and explained in the proof is that the c
ongruence holds for *many*\, but not *all* types of singularities. In part
icular\, simple nodes (that would normally serve as a litmus test for any
singularity related statement) are excluded!\n\n In spite of the algebra-g
eometric setting\, the proof is mostly topological.\n
