DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NTWebSeminar
/305/">Wasserstein metrics and equidistribution</a>\nby Emmanuel Kowalski
(ETH Zürich) as part of Number Theory Web Seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nWasserst
ein metrics provide an extremely flexible tool to quantify convergence of
probability measures\, and hence to quantify equidistribution results in n
umber theory. We will present the basic definitions and formal properties
of these metrics\, and illustrate their applicability with quantitative v
ersions of the equidistribution theorems of Deligne and Katz for families
of exponential sums over finite fields. (Joint work with T. Untrau)\n
