DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/98/">Se
lf-contact for inertial problems in continuum mechanics</a>\nby Malte Kamp
schulte (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics\, Charles University) as part
of Nečas Seminar on Continuum Mechanics\n\nLecture held in Room K3\, Fac
ulty of Mathematics and Physics\, Charles University\, Sokolovská 83 Pra
gue 8..\n\nAbstract\nThere are many theories about elastic collisions of s
olids and the resulting inertial evolution. What unifies most of them is t
hat they involve some phenomenological assumption. The aim of this talk is
to present a recent result which shows that for the self-collision of ela
stic bulk solids\, it is in fact sufficient to consider matter non-interpe
netration. Based only on this\, we are able to derive existence of weak so
lutions including contact with obstacles and self-contact for arbitrary la
rge times and for large deformations. Additionally we are able to precisel
y characterize the contact forces as a vector-valued measure. This is base
 d on joint works with A. Češík\, and G. Gravina.\n
