DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/29/">En
ergetic bounds for paperboard delamination under bending</a>\nby Patrick D
ondl (University of Freiburg) as part of Nečas Seminar on Continuum Mecha
nics\n\n\nAbstract\nPaperboard is an engineering material consisting of a
number of separate sheets of paper\, that have been bonded together. Exper
imental evidence shows that paperboard undergoing bending develops phenome
nologically plastic hinges. We consider a nonlinearly elastic mathematical
model for paperboard\, allowing debonding of the sheets at a given cost p
er unit area. Analysis of our model predicts a number of different regimes
\, including somewhere bending is concentrated in delaminated hinges\, whe
re the mid-plane of each individual layer may deform isometrically. This i
s joint work with Sergio Conti (Bonn) and Julia Orlik (Kaiserslautern).\n
