DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/192/">L
attice Boltzmann method for compressible fluid flow and drag simulations</
a>\nby Ondřej Marek (Faculty of Nuclear Sciences\, CTU) as part of Nečas
Seminar on Continuum Mechanics\n\nLecture held in Room K3\, Faculty of M
 athematics and Physics\, Charles University\, Sokolovská 83 Prague 8..\n
\nAbstract\nThis talk discusses the use of the lattice Boltzmann method (L
BM) for\ncompressible fluid flow and its application in approximating drag
and lift\ncoefficients of objects. A brief overview of fluid dynamics is
followed by\nan explanation of the LBM. Entropic LBM and multi-speed veloc
ity models\nused to simulate compressible fluid flow are described\, along
with a\ngeneralization of their boundary conditions and a benchmark probl
em. Next\,\nan algorithm for numerically computing the drag and lift coeff
icients\nspecific for the LBM grid is derived for both incompressible and\
ncompressible flows. Finally\, a numerical study is performed for flow\nar
ound a cylinder and a NACA profile with the multi-speed ELBM model\,\nrefe
rence single-speed LBM models and the finite volume method compared\nwith
 results from published studies.\n
