DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/180/">P
hase-field model for beta-to-omega transformation in titanium alloys</a>\n
by Karel Tůma (Mathematical Institute\, Charles University) as part of Ne
čas Seminar on Continuum Mechanics\n\nLecture held in Room K3\, Faculty
of Mathematics and Physics\, Charles University\, Sokolovská 83 Prague 8
..\n\nAbstract\nIn this talk\, we revisit a phase separation model involvi
ng multiple wells\, focusing on $\\beta-\\omega$ transformations observed
in titanium alloys. We introduce a novel approach that alters the algebrai
c form of the interfacial free energy. This modification relaxes the conve
ntional coercivity requirements on surface tensions within total-spreading
scenarios and\, crucially\, eliminates the emergence of $\\omega-\\omega$
mixed phases—structures that are crystallographically forbidden. The ca
pabilities of the new model are illustrated through basic numerical experi
ments\, and we also describe the next steps toward more comprehensive\, th
ree-dimensional simulations of $\\beta-\\omega$ phase evolution in titaniu
 m systems.\n
