DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/149/">R
egularity problems in the Calculus of Variations</a>\nby Cristiana De Fili
ppis (University of Parma\, Italy) as part of Nečas Seminar on Continuum
Mechanics\n\nLecture held in Room K3\, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics
 \, Charles University\, Sokolovská 83 Prague 8..\n\nAbstract\nRegularity
theory and the Calculus of Variations are unavoidably linked to each othe
r\,\n as in fact\, regularity techniques essentially serve to show weak or
distributional solutions are in\n fact classical solutions. Therefore\, r
egularity ensures solvability. This is a topic that has been tremendously
developed over the last 100 years\, and I will try to give an overview sta
rting from very\n classical results\, passing through the fundamental con
tributions of De Giorig and Nash\, eventually\n approaching some of the mo
st recent developments involving nonuniformly elliptic problems.\n
