DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/143/">A
NALYSIS OF A SYSTEM MODELLING THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE MOTION OF PISTON
-SPRING AND A VISCOUS GAS</a>\nby Václav Mácha (Institute of Mathematics
\, Czech Academy of Sciences) as part of Nečas Seminar on Continuum Mecha
nics\n\nLecture held in Room K3\, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics\, Ch
arles University\, Sokolovská 83 Prague 8..\n\nAbstract\nWe are concerne
 d with a one-dimensional flow of a compressible\nfluid which may be seen\n
as a simplification of the flow of fluid in a long\, thin pipe. We assume\
nthe pipe is on one side\,\nending by a spring. The other side of the pipe
is left open – there\, we\nassume either inflow or outflow\nboundary co
nditions. Such a situation can be understood as a toy model for\nhuman lun
gs. We tackle\nthe question of uniqueness and the existence of a strong so
lution for a\nsystem modeling the above process\,\nspecial emphasis is lai
d upon the estimate of the maximal time of\nexistence.\nThis is a joint wo
rk with Sabrine Chebbi and Šárka Nečasová\n
