DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/137/">W
eak Solutions to Mathematical Models of the Interaction between Fluids\, S
olids and Electromagnetic Fields</a>\nby Jan Scherz (University of Wuerzbu
rg) as part of Nečas Seminar on Continuum Mechanics\n\nLecture held in Ro
om K3\, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics\, Charles University\, Sokolov
ská 83 Prague 8..\n\nAbstract\nWe prove the existence of weak solutions
to two systems of PDEs modeling interactions between fluids\, solids and e
lectromagnetic fields. The first problem we consider describes the motion
of an insulating rigid body through an electrically conducting incompressi
ble fluid. The existence of weak solutions to this problem is achieved via
a time discretization and an application of the Brinkman penalization. Th
e second considered problem deals with the evolution of the deformation an
d the magnetization of a magnetoelastic material and is solved via an appl
ication of De Giorgi's minimizing movements scheme.\n
