DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/123/">O
n the estimation of blood hemolysis index from viscoelastic stretch model<
/a>\nby Tomáš Bodnár (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering\, Czech Technic
al University) as part of Nečas Seminar on Continuum Mechanics\n\nLecture
held in Room K3\, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics\, Charles Universit
y\, Sokolovská 83 Prague 8..\n\nAbstract\nThis contribution presents an
alternative way of estimating the blood damage\nhemolysis index using the
viscoelastic stretch tensor. This tensor is obtained\nby solving a set of
coupled partial differential equations describing the\nrheology of shear-t
hinning viscoelastic fluid. The main advantage of the chosen\napproach is
that the already calculated and known stretch tensor is just reused\nand p
ostprocessed to assess the local deformation of red blood cells\, that can
\nin certain cases lead to degradation of the cell membranes and consequen
t\nrelease of hemoglobin. The algorithm of solving the viscoelastic stretc
h tensor\nequations and hemolysis index postprocessing will be outlined an
d discussed in\ndetail. Some initial numerical simulations for an axisymme
tric idealized\nstenosed blood vessel\, obtained using an in-house finite-
 volume solver\, will be\npresented.\n
