DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/12/">Gl
obal existence and stability for dissipative processes coupled acro
ss volume and surface</a>\nby Karoline Disser (Universitaet Kassel) as pa
rt of Nečas Seminar on Continuum Mechanics\n\n\nAbstract\nThe modelling o
f technological and biological processes and devices is\noften characteriz
ed by non-smoothness: material edges and corners\,\nabruptly changing mate
rial properties and a large scope of relevant\ntemporal and spatial scales
. From a PDE point-of-view\, we need to deal\nwith domains of low boundary
regularity\, mixed and dynamic boundary\nconditions\, degeneracy and disc
 ontinuity of parameters\, and\, possibly\nafter rescaling\, with the coupl
ing of dynamics across voulme and\nlower-dimensional interfaces or surface
s.\n\nIn this talk\, I want to consider models of non-linear\nreaction-dri
 ft-diffusion type in non-smooth and/or volume-surface\nsettings and discus
s their analysis based on the choice of specific\nfunctional analytic sett
ings. The aim is to discuss some aspects of the\ninteraction of thermodyna
mically consistent modelling and the analysis\nof the PDE and to establish
strategies for simultaneously dealing with\nnon-linearity and non-smoothn
 ess.\n
