DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/NSCM/106/">F
inite crystallization via stratification</a>\nby Manuel Friedrich (Univers
ity of Erlangen) as part of Nečas Seminar on Continuum Mechanics\n\nLectu
re held in Room K3\, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics\, Charles Univers
 ity\, Sokolovská 83 Prague 8..\n\nAbstract\nIn this talk\, I present a n
ew technique to prove two-dimensional\ncrystallization results in the squa
re lattice for finite particle\nsystems. We consider configurational energ
ies featuring two-body\nshort-ranged particle interactions and three-body
angular potentials\nfavoring bond-angles of the square lattice. To each co
nfiguration\, we\nassociate its bond graph which is then suitably modified
by identifying\nchains of successive atoms. This method\, called stratifi
cation\, reduces\nthe crystallization problem to a simple minimization tha
t corresponds to\na proof via slicing of the isoperimetric inequality in l
 1. Based on\njoint work with Leonard Kreutz.\n
