 bstract\nWe investigate the homogenization of the two- and\nthree-dimensio
 nal unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equations\, and\nshow (i) the conv
 ergence result for the 2D case\, and (ii) a better lower\nbound for the ad
 iabatic exponent occurring in the pressure law for the\n3D case. The latte
 r will be covered with two different proofs. Lastly\,\nwe briefly discuss 
 the optimality of the achieved bounds for the\nadiabatic exponent in terms
  of the underlying space-time dimension. This\nis joint work with Šárka 
 Nečasová (CAS) and Milan Pokorný\n(Charles University).\n
