Assem observed that with a suitable\nchoice of Haar measures\, the unipo tent orbital integrals\non a connected reductive group G over a p-adic fie ld are rational-valued for rational-valued test functions. He concluded th at Shalika germs\, and in some cases\, the coefficients of the Harish-Chan dras local character expansion are rational\, and conjectured that it shou ld always be the case.
