 ors\, or more generally\nperturbations of a class of Fourier multipliers\,
  in the continuous\nsetting\, and in the discrete setting on a square latt
 ice with mesh size h.\nThe discrete operators converge to the continuous o
 nes as the mesh size\ntends to zero\, in a generalized resolvent sense. \n
 Explicit convergence rates are obtained. \nWe present some spectral conseq
 uences of these convergence results.\n
