DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/LNTS/202/">O
n the Fargues--Scholze local Langlands correspondence for Yu's supercuspid
als</a>\nby Sean Cotner (University of Bonn) as part of London number theo
ry seminar\n\nLecture held in Imperial College London\, Huxley 139.\n\nAbs
tract\nThere are several different approaches to the local Langlands\ncorr
espondence\, which can be roughly grouped as "classical"\, "explicit"\,\na
nd "geometric". Each of these has its own useful features\, and it is\nexp
ected that they all ultimately yield the same correspondence\, but this\ni
s far from clear. There has been a lot of work by many people comparing\nt
he classical and geometric approaches\, and some partial work comparing\nt
he other two pairs of approaches. I will discuss recent joint work with\nT
ony Feng which is focused on comparing the explicit and geometric\napproac
hes due to Kaletha and Fargues--Scholze\, respectively. The main\nrecent t
ools making this comparison possible are Feng's modular\nfunctoriality and
  Scholze's independence of \\(\\ell\\).\n
