This i dentification passes through associating a quiver with potential and a Gin zburg category to a triangulation of a marked bordered surface defined by a quadratic differential. I will review this correspondence and discuss ho w the picture changes when quadratic differentials with zeroes of arbitrar y order are considered. This involves the study of Verdier quotients of Gi nzburg categories and their t-structures.
