 >Dual perspective on quantum Hall to insulator transitions</a>\nby Sri Rag
hu (Stanford) as part of Kadanoff seminars\n\n\nAbstract\nQuantum Hall to
insulator transitions (QHITs) are among the oldest and most studied exampl
es of quantum critical phenomena. In this talk I will discuss problems th
at still remain open in this subject\, and present a dual approach to QHIT
s based on composite fermion representations. I discuss the mean-field an
d fluctuational aspects of the dual theories\, and discuss how they provid
 e a complementary understanding - and in many instances\, a conceptual ad
vantage - to current descriptions of QHITs based on the electron represent
 ation.\n
