 nars\n\n\nAbstract\nIn this talk I will critically review the role played 
 by holography in our current understanding of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP)
  formed in heavy-ion collisions. Outstanding challenges regarding the hydr
 odynamic behavior of the QGP will be presented\, considering the dynamical
  inclusion of critical phenomena and\, especially\, concerning the modelin
 g of the collective behavior displayed by small collision systems such as 
 proton-nucleus and proton-proton collisions. New opportunities to improve 
 the holographic modeling of the QGP\, in and out-of-equilibrium\, will be 
 discussed.\n
