The first is a linear algebra course and the second a condensed calculus course that combines ideas from our current Calc I–Calc II sequence\, em phasizes a “numerical” perspective (as opposed to analytic)\, incorpor ates more modern engineering applications\, and recognizes that over 95% o f Michigan engineering students have prior exposure to calculus from high school. After a full year of discussions and development\, the sequence wi ll debut in pilot form this fall.
