 nt a construction\, based on recent joint work with E. Jespers\, T. Letour
 my\, M. Trombetti and A. Van Antwerpen\, of free objects in the category o
 f right nilpotent skew braces of bounded class. Although the existence of 
 these free objects follows from general results in universal algebra\, the
 ir explicit construction is much less straightforward. We will describe th
 e main ideas behind the construction and some structural properties of the
  resulting skew braces. We will also introduce the corresponding class of 
 right nilpotent solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation.\n
