 nomy\, with a plethora of possible physical driving mechanisms.They also h
 old the potential to be tools for understanding our universe on cosmologic
 al scales as well as for probing some fundamental physics questions. In th
 is talk we will take a gentle stroll through some of these ideas and intro
 duce the HIRAX experiment\, hosted in South Africa\,  the next state of th
 e art radio interferometer for detecting and localising Fast Radio Bursts.
