DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/CTA/67/">Ext
ending the reach of the point-to-set principle</a>\nby Elvira Mayordomo (U
niversity of Zaragoza) as part of Computability theory and applications\n\
 n\nAbstract\nThe point-to-set principle of J. Lutz and N. Lutz (2018) has\
nrecently enabled the theory of computing to be used to answer open questi
ons\nabout fractal geometry in Euclidean spaces R^n. These are classical q
uestions\nwhose statements do not involve computation or related aspects o
f logic.\n\nI will present the generalization of the point-to-set principl
e from Euclidean\nspaces to arbitrary separable metric spaces and to a lar
ge class of gauge\nfamilies.\n\nThen I will demonstrate the power of our e
xtended point-to-set principle by\nusing it to prove new theorems about cl
assical fractal dimensions in\nhyperspaces.\n\n(The results presented are
joint work with Jack Lutz and Neil Lutz).\n
