">On nonsupersymmetric string models and the decompactification problem</a
 >\nby John Rizos (Ioannina U.) as part of CCTP HEP Seminars\n\n\nAbstract\
nWe study 4d heterotic string compactifications exhibiting\nspontaneous su
persymmetry breaking via the Scherk–Schwarz mechanism\nassociated with t
wo large internal dimensions. We identify a class of\nmodels with fermion
–boson degeneracy that address some central issues in\nnonsupersymmetric
string phenomenology including the elimination of\ntachyons and dilaton t
adpoles and the suppression of the cosmological\nconstant. In addition\, w
e propose a novel solution to the\ndecompactification problem related to t
he cancellation of the linear\ngrowth of the gauge part of the thresholds
 with a similar growth of the\nuniversal part.\n
