DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/CCTP_HEP/45/
">The quantum mechanics of a perfect fluid</a>\nby Riccardo Rattazzi (EPFL
) as part of CCTP HEP Seminars\n\n\nAbstract\nFinite density systems can b
e described by effective field\ntheories with non-linearly realized space-
time symmetries\,\nwhose construction resembles that of the QCD chiral lag
rangian. Also\nbased on that similarity\, one would expect the\nconstructi
on to work equally well classically and quantum mechanically.\nWhile that
is true for superfluids and solids\,\none instead finds that for genuine f
luids things are made more\ncomplicated by the unusual dynamics of their t
ransverse\nmodes\, which are not described by a Fock space. Focussing on
 the\nincompressible limit in 2+1 dimensions\, I illustrate how a consisten
t\nquantum mechanical description of a perfect fluid can be obtained by\nu
sing the known equivalence between the area preserving diffeomorfism \ngr
 oup in 2D and $SU(N)$ with $N\\to \\infty$.\n
