DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/BCNSETS/5/">
Categorifying Borel reducibility</a>\nby Andrew Brooke-Taylor (University
of Leeds) as part of Barcelona Set Theory Seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nBorel red
ucibility is a framework that has been very successful in showing that cla
ssification programmes in different areas of mathematics are not possible
to complete. However\, a feature of many such classification programmes t
hat is not accounted for in the standard Borel reducibility framework is f
unctoriality - a good classification function is expected to respect all m
aps between objects\, not just the isomorphisms. I will present an extens
ion of the Borel reducibility framework that takes functoriality into acco
unt\, and give some initial results showing that this is a meaningful refi
 nement of the standard framework.\n
