 g amplitudes in string theory often lead to divergent results that need to
  be defined by analytically continuing the external momenta. This procedur
 e breaks down for amplitudes in the presence of D-instantons since open st
 rings on the D-instanton do not carry any continuous momenta and therefore
  the divergences cannot be avoided by deforming the external momenta. In t
 hese lectures we shall show how string field theory leads to an unambiguou
 s procedure for evaluating these amplitudes. We shall not assume any prior
  knowledge of string field theory\, but will assume knowledge of world-she
 et formulation of string theory\, including the b\,c ghost system.\n
