Over\nthe last 15 years\, mac hine learning models have learnt to perform tasks that humans find\neasy\, such as speech and image recognition. However many problems are still ou t of the\nreach of AI\, including most unsolved problems in pure mathemati cs. \n\nHear from University of Sydney Professor of Mathematics Geordie W illiamson as he\nexplores how machine learning can help with the intuitive aspects of mathematical\nresearch. Geordie recently carried out one of t he first applications of AI in pure\nmathematics\, in collaboration with O xford University mathematicians and DeepMind\, the AI\ncompany of AlphaGo fame.
