">Double-slit interference with entangled photons</a>\nby T. Qureshi as pa
rt of Quantum Optics and Related Topics 2025\n\n\nAbstract\nA theoretical
analysis of a double-slit experiment involving entangled photons is presen
ted. It is demonstrated that\, under appropriate conditions\, two entangle
d photons with a wavelength of λ can function as a biphoton with a wavele
ngth of λ/2. More intriguingly\, we illustrate that even when the two ent
angled photons are separated by a polarizing beam splitter\, they can stil
l exhibit behavior akin to a biphoton of wavelength λ/2. On the experimen
tal front\, we explore two distinct quantum interference phenomena using a
double-slit setup: the Hanbury Brown and Twiss (HBT) effect\, where the p
hotons traverse different slits\, and NOON-state interference\, in which b
oth photons pass through the same slit. We methodically differentiate the
two photons based on their orthogonal polarizations and show that both int
erference phenomena persist despite their distinguishability at the detect
ors. This result goes beyond the conventional understanding of two-photon
interference and reveals a new nonlocal HBT effect\, where interference oc
curs even in the absence of spatial overlap\, fundamentally tied to the co
 ncept of entanglement.\n

">Geometric phase and entanglement dynamics in trapped ion systems</a>\nby
  R. Vathsan as part of Quantum Optics and Related Topics 2025\n\n\nAbstrac
t\nSystems adopted as platforms for quantum computing typically undergo d
eviations from ideal dynamics due to unavoidable interactions with the env
ironment. The hallmark of computational power is the entanglement in the s
ystem\, which could suffer due to noise. Typically\, gate performance is a
nalysed and noise characterised by Quantum Process Tomography and Bell sta
te tomography. However these methods are resource intensive\, and scale ex
ponentially with system size. In this work\, we propose leveraging the geo
metric phase(GP) as a tool for performance assessment and noise identifica
tion in the Molmer-Sorensen (MS) gate\, a commonly used entangling gate in
trapped ion systems. Our findings indicate that the GP is particularly se
nsitive to environmental noise occurring around twice the clock pulse time
. Given that GP measurements do not require full-state tomography\, this a
pproach offers a practical and experimentally feasible method to detect en
tanglement and classify the nature of noise affecting the system.\n

erplay of linear and nonlinear effects\ngives rise to solitons\, i.e.\, s
 elf-trapped localized structures\, in a wide range of physical\nsettings\,
  including optics\, Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs)\, hydrodynamics\,\npl

as an\ninterdisciplinary class of modes\, which feature diverse internal
structures.\n\nWhile most experimental realizations and theoretical models
  of solitons\nhave been elaborated in one-dimensional (1D) settings\, a c
hallenging issue is\nprediction of stable solitons in 2D and 3D media. In
particular\, multidimensional\nsolitons may carry an intrinsic topological
structure in the form of vorticity. In\naddition to the "simple" vortex s
olitons\, fascinating objects featuring complex\nstructures\, such as hopf

ble linear-optical interferometers are a key element of both classical and
quantum information systems. During the manufacturing process\, these int
erferometers are subject to various instrumental imperfections that are in
evitably\nintroduced. In this way actual chip's transfer matrix can deviat
e form the expected one. It is therefore crucial to be able to reconstruct
the transfer matrix of a fabricated chip for each set of control signals
applied to chip’s optical modulators. Existing methods for reconstructin
g tunable linear-optical interferometers require measuring the phase of ch
ip’s transfer matrix elements at different values of control signals. Th
is is a complex and time-consuming experimental procedure. However\, in th
e method we propose here\, it’s possible to construct a mathematical mod
el that predicts the transfer matrix for a tunable linear-optical chip at
any values of the control signals\, based on measurements of the transmiss
ion coefficients of the chip only. Our method was successfully verified nu
merically on the example of linear-optical chips 4x4 based on the universa
l Clements and mixing layers architectures. In the case of a chip 4x4 base
d on the mixing layers\, the method was experimentally tested with an aver

nQuantum correlations in the spatial domain offer significant potential fo
r applications in quantum imaging\, cryptography\, and information process
ing. We investigate structured spatial quantum correlations in bright sque
ezed light generated through four-wave mixing in hot atomic vapor\, with s
tructuring achieved by incorporating Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) modes into the
process. A key feature of the resulting twin LG beams is their self-heali

l intensity profiles and topological charge after obstruction. We further
explore how transverse spatial quantum correlations evolve from the near f
ield to the far field. Notably\, the use of an LG-structured pump induces
a transition from localized correlations in the near field to delocalized
correlations in the far field—behavior that contrasts sharply with syste
ms using a Gaussian pump. These findings highlight the unique advantages o

t\nIn recent years\, technologies exploiting quantum optical effects have
advanced rapidly\, highlighting the need for accurate simulation of quantu
m state evolution across diverse processes. Yet\, numerical simulation of
quantum dynamics remains difficult due to the rapid growth of Hilbert spac
 e. Traditional Fock-basis methods become impractical in high-photon or mul
timode regimes\, while continuous-variable (CV) representations\, based on
discretized position or momentum bases\, still require scalable encoding
strategies.\n\nWe address this challenge using tensor networks\, specifica
lly the Matrix Product State (MPS) formalism for representing both wave fu
nctions and operators in a continuous basis. This approach leverages the f
act that MPS encodings are compact for smooth multivariable functions\, en
abling efficient propagation of the time-dependent wave function by solvin
 g the Schrödinger equation directly in MPS form.\n\nAs a benchmark\, we s
imulate degenerate spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC). For a pu
 mp initialized in a low-amplitude coherent state (\\alpha = 10)\, MPS calc
ulations exactly reproduce Fock-basis results. At higher amplitude (\\alph
a = 100)\, where Fock simulations become intractable\, the MPS method rema
ins efficient and stable.\n\nThese results demonstrate that tensor-network
