3/">ALG Gravitational Instantons and Hitchin Moduli Spaces</a>\nby Laura F
redrickson (University of Oregon) as part of Quantum Mathematics and Physi
cs\n\n\nAbstract\nFour-dimensional complete hyperkaehler manifolds can be
 classified into ALE\, ALF\, ALG\, ALG*\, ALH\, ALH* families. It has been
conjectured that every ALG or ALG* hyperkaehler metric can be realized as
a 4d Hitchin moduli space. I will describe ongoing work with Rafe Mazzeo\,
Jan Swoboda\, and Hartmut Weiss to prove a special case of the conjecture
\, and some consequences. The hyperkaehler metrics on Hitchin moduli space
s are of independent interest\, as the physicists Gaiotto–Moore–Neitzk
e give an intricate conjectural description of their asymptotic geometry.\
n\nThe Zoom Meeting Room opens at 10:45am. The meeting is passcode protect
ed. The passcode is the pseudo-TeX-like form of the standard symplectic fo
rm of the oriented xy-plane\, using ^ in place of wedge. Thus it consists
of 7 characters starting from $.\n

4/">Racks and Quantum Invariants</a>\nby Jenifer Brown (UC Davis) as part
of Quantum Mathematics and Physics\n\n\nAbstract\nDrawing on the quarter's
theme of inspiration from physics\, I will talk about my work on adapting
racks to quantum knot invariants.\n\nRacks are an algebraic embodiment of
the second two Reidemeister moves. I will start with a gentle introductio
n to racks\, then show how they model the colored tangle diagrams ubiquito
us in quantum topology. Time permitting\, I will talk about my own motivat
ions for pursuing this line of thought\, which have to do with the conject
ured relationship between character varieties and quantum invariants.\n\nT
