he eigenvalues of one-particle Dirac operator with general charge distribu
tions</a>\nby Mathieu Lewin as part of Munich-Copenhagen-Santiago Mathemat
ical Physics seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nFor heavy atoms and molecules\, relati
vistic effects have to be taken into account. The most precise option is t
o use the Dirac operator\, but it is then notoriously difficult to include
Coulomb potentials\, which scale the same as the kinetic energy. In this
talk I will discuss one-particle Dirac operators with the potential induce
d by an arbitrary charge distribution. I will particularly focus on min-ma
x formulas for the eigenvalues and on an important conjecture about the op
timality of the first Dirac eigenvalue. If true\, this conjecture would ha
ve an impact on the shape of the potential energy surface of molecules in
 Dirac theory.\n

Random Schrödinger operators with complex decaying potentials</a>\nby Kon
stantin Merz (TU Braunschweig) as part of Munich-Copenhagen-Santiago Mathe
matical Physics seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nEstimating the location and accumul
ation rate of eigenvalues of Schrödinger operators is a classical problem
in spectral theory and mathematical physics. The pioneering work of R. Fr
ank (Bull. Lond. Math. Soc.\, 2011) illustrated the power of Fourier analy
tic methods - like the uniform Sobolev inequality by Kenig\, Ruiz\, and So
gge\, or the Stein-Tomas restriction theorem - in this quest\, when the po
tential is non-real and has "short range".\n\nRecently S. Bögli and J.-C.
Cuenin (arXiv:2109.06135) showed that Frank's "short-range" condition is
in fact optimal\, thereby disproving a conjecture by A. Laptev and O. Safr
onov (Comm. Math. Phys.\, 2009) concerning Keller-Lieb-Thirring-type estim
ates for eigenvalues of Schrödinger operators with complex potentials.\n\
nIn this talk\, we estimate complex eigenvalues of continuum random Schrö
dinger operators of Anderson type. Our analysis relies on methods of J. Bo
urgain (Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst.\, 2002\, Lecture Notes in Math.\, 2003
) related to almost sure scattering for random lattice Schrödinger operat
ors\, and allows us to consider potentials which decay almost twice as slo
wly as in the deterministic case.\n\nThe talk is based on joint work with
 Jean-Claude Cuenin.\n

sics seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nThe problem of determining the local eigenvalu
e statistics (LES) for one-dimensional random band matrices (RBM) will be
discussed with an emphasis on the localization regime. RBM are real symmet
ric $(2N+1)\\times(2N+1)$ matrices with nonzero entries in a band of width
  $2N\\alpha+1$ about the diagonal\, for $0\\leq \\alpha \\leq 1$. The nonz
ero entries are independent\, identically distributed random variables. It
  is conjectured that as $N\\rightarrow \\infty$ and for $0\\leq \\alpha <\
 \frac{1}{2}$\, the LES is a Poisson point process\, whereas for $\\frac{1}
{2}<α≤1$\, the LES is the same as that for the Gaussian Orthogonal Ense
mble. This corresponds to a phase transition from a localized to a delocal
ized state as α passes through $\\frac{1}{2}$. In recent works with B. Br
odie and with M. Krishna\, we have made progress in proving this conjectur
 e for $0\\leq \\alpha <\\frac{1}{2}$.\nSome of the results by others for t
he delocalized state with $\\frac{1}{2}<\\alpha≤1$\nwill also be describ
 ed.\n

 Adiabatic evolution of low-temperature many-body quantum systems</a>\nby G

en-Santiago Mathematical Physics seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nWe consider finite
-range\, many-body fermionic lattice models and we study the evolution of
their thermal equilibrium state after introducing a weak and slowly varyin
g time-dependent perturbation. Under suitable assumptions on the external
driving\, we derive a representation for the average of the evolution of l
ocal observables via a convergent expansion in the perturbation\, for smal
l enough temperatures. Convergence holds for a range of parameters that is
uniform in the size of the system. Under a spectral gap assumption on the
unperturbed Hamiltonian\, convergence is also uniform in temperature. As
an application\, our expansion allows us to prove closeness of the time-ev
olved state to the instantaneous Gibbs state of the perturbed system\, in
the sense of expectation of local observables\, at zero and at small tempe
ratures. Our strategy is based on a rigorous version of the Wick rotation
and fermionic cluster expansion.\nThis talk is based on a joint work with
 R. L. Greenblatt\, M. Lange and M. Porta.\n

Hankel operators with band spectra and elliptic functions</a>\nby Alexande
r Pushnitski (King's College London) as part of Munich-Copenhagen-Santiago
Mathematical Physics seminar\n\n\nAbstract\nI will discuss spectral prope
rties of bounded self-adjoint Hankel operators H\, realised as integral op
erators on the positive semi-axis\, that commute with dilations by a fixed
factor. In analogy with the spectral theory of periodic Schroedinger oper
ators\, the Hankel operators H of this class admit the Floquet-Bloch decom
position\, which represents H as a direct integral of certain compact fibe
r operators. As a consequence\, operators H have band spectra (the spectru
m of H is the union of disjoint intervals). A striking feature of this mod
el is that flat bands (i.e. intervals degenerating into points\, which are
  eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity) may co-exist with non-flat bands\;

Spectral asymptotics for the Schrödinger operator with bounded\, unstruct

al asymptotics for Schrödinger operators on compact manifolds have been w
ell studied since the early 1900s and it is now well known that they are i
ntimately related to the structure of periodic geodesics. In this talk\, w
e discuss analogous questions for Schrödinger operators on $R^d$ with pot
entials bounded together with all their derivatives. Since the geodesic fl
ow on $R^d$ has no periodic trajectories (or indeed looping trajectories)
one might guess that the spectral projector has a complete asymptotic expa
nsion in powers of the spectral parameter. We show that when $d=1$\, this
is indeed the case. When $d=2$\, we give a large class of potentials whose
spectral projectors have complete asymptotics. Nevertheless\, in $d\\ge 2
$\, we construct examples where complete asymptotics fails. \nBased on joi

rmulate these variational problems as an interpolation-like inequality alo

Typical hyperbolic surfaces have an optimal spectral gap</a>\nby Laura Mon
k (Bristol) as part of Munich-Copenhagen-Santiago Mathematical Physics sem

surface\, or its spectral gap\, measures how well-connected the surface is
: surfaces with a large spectral gap are hard to cut in pieces\, have a sm
all diameter and fast mixing times. For large hyperbolic surfaces (of larg
e area or large genus g\, equivalently)\, we know that the spectral gap is
asymptotically bounded above by 1/4. The aim of this talk is to present a
n upcoming article\, joint with Nalini Anantharaman\, where we prove that
most hyperbolic surfaces have a near-optimal spectral gap. That is to say\
, we prove that\, for any ε>0\, the Weil-Petersson probability for a hype
rbolic surface of genus g to have a spectral gap greater than 1/4-ε goes
to one as g goes to infinity. This statement is analogous to Alon’s 1986

 t our approach\, which shares many similarities with Friedman’s work\, a
nd introduce new tools and ideas that we have developed in order to tackle
