DESCRIPTION:Title: Floer homology via semi-infinite dimensional cycles\nby Piotr Suwar
a (MIT) as part of Knot theory seminar in Warsaw\n\n\nAbstract\nFloer's id
ea of constructing a Morse-Smale-Witten chain complex to compute the "midd
le-dimensional homology" of infinite-dimensional spaces led to the emergen
ce of groundbreaking invariants of knots\, low-dimensional manifolds and s
ymplectic manifolds\, collectively known under the name of Floer homology.
I will describe a construction of a homological invariant of infinite-dim
ensional spaces with a functional facilitating what Atiyah called "semi-in
finite dimensional cycles"\, following the work of Lipyanskiy and based on
earlier work of Mrowka and Ozsváth. The construction reduces the analyti
cal difficulties needed to define Floer homology and hopefully will provid
e a convenient framework for constructing equivariant Floer homologies.\n

DESCRIPTION:Title: The second Yang-Baxter homology for the Homflypt polynomial\nby Jó
zef Przytycki (The George Washington University) as part of Knot theory se
minar in Warsaw\n\n\nAbstract\nVaughan Jones constructed Yang-Baxter opera
tors yielding the Jones and\nHomflypt polynomials.\nWe adjust these Yang-B
axter operators constructed by Jones so the\nhomology theory given by Vict
oria Lebed and the speaker could be used.\nThen we compute the second homo
logy for this family of Yang-Baxter\noperators. It has the potential to yi
eld a 2-cocycle invariant for links.\nSee arXiv:2004.07413 [math.GT]\n

covers)\ncan be conveniently used in studying concordance questions of kn
ots and\nthe standard three-sphere. Motivated by involutive Floer homology
(and\nmore generally\, by connected Floer homology) we introduce an invar

DESCRIPTION:Title: Non-orientable slice surfaces and inscribed rectangles.\nby Peter
Feller (ETH Zurich) as part of Knot theory seminar in Warsaw\n\n\nAbstract
\nDoes every Jordan curve in the Euclidian plane contain 4 points that for
m\nthe corners of a square? What about the corners of a rectangle with a\n
prescribed aspect ration?\nStarting from this old metric problem posed by
Toeplitz over a hundred\nyears ago\, we discuss problems in knot concordan
ce theory.\n\nFollowing a strategy of Hugelmeyer\, we relate Toeplitz's qu
estion to the\nfollowing variant of a classical knot concordance question:
\nFor a given knot \\(K\\) in the 3-sphere \\(S^3\\) (or \\(S^2 \\times S^
1\\))\, what is the smallest\ninteger among the first Betti numbers of non
-orientable surface in the\n4-ball \\(B^4\\) (or \\(B^3 \\times S^1\\)) wi
th boundary \\(K\\)?\nWe discuss this in both the smooth and topological c
ategory. Along the way\,\nwe note that a celebrated result by Batson on th
e smooth non-orientable\n4-genus of torus knots does not hold in the topol
ogical category.\n\nBased on joint work with Marco Golla\; see\nhttps://ar
xiv.org/pdf/2003.01590.pdf\n

DESCRIPTION:Title: Several detection results for Khovanov homology on links\nby Boyu
Zhang as part of Knot theory seminar in Warsaw\n\n\nAbstract\nKhovanov hom
ology is a combinatorially defined invariant for knots and links. In this
talk\, I will present several new detection results for Khovanov homology
on links. In particular\, I will present a classification result for all n
-component links whose Khovanov homology has the minimum rank 2^n. The cla
ssification gives a positive answer to a conjecture of Batson and Seed\, a
nd generalizes the unlink detection theorem of Hedden-Ni and Batson-Seed.
The proof is based on a new excision formula for singular instanton Floer
homology. This is joint work with Yi Xie.\n
