seminar series\n\n\nAbstract\nOn Monday July 13th at 11.00 AM EDT we will
have an online "Swampland open mic event" via zoom. The idea is to gather
as many interested people as we can in an open\, friendly\, and fun manner
. The discussion will last one hour and everybody is encouraged to come a
nd bring their own thoughts\, questions\, and ideas on anything Swampland-
 related!\n\nHope to see you there!\n

of Swampland seminar series\n\n\nAbstract\nOver the last fourteen years\,
a variety of swampland conditions have been proposed with various degrees
of rigor. In this talk\, I will discuss tests of some of these conjecture
s that do not rely on specific string theory constructions. They include c
onstraints on symmetry\, strength of gravitational couplings\, cobordism b
etween theories\, and issues with lower dimensional theories.\n

DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/HarvardSwamp
/7/">Comments and speculations on swampland geometry</a>\nby Sergio Cecott
i (SISSA) as part of Swampland seminar series\n\n\nAbstract\nI focus on th
e geometric side of the swampland program.\nThe basic observation is that
manifolds satisfying the Ooguri-Vafa geometric con- jectures are the natur
al arena for a geometric structure which may be regarded as the non-K ̈ah
ler generalization of special (K ̈ahler) geometry. The relevant proper- t
ies and results of “motivic” special geometry extend with little modif
ication to the general Ooguri-Vafa situation.\nFor supersymmetric effectiv
e theories this generalized geometric structure leads to a nice reformulat
ion of the Ooguri-Vafa swampland conditions and to a clarification of thei
r physical origin.\nThe extension of the statements to non-supersymmetric
quantum-consistent effec- tive theories\, while speculative\, is not manif
 estly wrong (and “qualitatively” right).\n
