DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://researchseminars.org/talk/ActiveInfere

ulation into the effects of reflection(s)\, duplication and symmetry throu
gh Active Inference</a>\nby Shanna Dobson\, Sonia de Jager (University of
California\, Riverside\; ArtCenter College of Design) as part of Active In
ference Livestreams\n\n\nAbstract\nThe concept and phenomenon of reflectio
n\, when highly abstractly posited\, can be said to abound across domains.
To name a few\, in mathematics and computation: symmetries\, equivalence\
 , completeness\; in physics: reversibility\, all manner of map-territory c
onsiderations\; in evolutionary biology: duplication and reproduction\, th
e organism as a model of the environment\; in philosophy: reflexivity\,
 場所\, universal/particular transits\, difference and repetition\; in (p
 sycho)linguistics: reference\, redundancy\, reiteration\, rhyme\; in artis
tic practice\; the (question of the) imitation of ‘life’\; and the lis
t may go on. In this presentation we will explore aspects of reflection\,
through a series of examples from the histories of science and art\, as we
ll as trace some of their philosophical exposures\, in an effort to ground
or naturalize them as actively inferential phenomena.\n
